Pathways Working Paper 01-01 Erickson, M., Robison, J., Moen,
P. & Krout, J. (2001, January). Moving Plans and Residential Context
in Later Life.
Mary Ann Erickson, Ithaca
College
Julie Robison
Phyllis Moen, Cornell University
John Krout, Ithaca College
Objectives
To investigate how moving plans vary by residential context.
Key findings
- Individual needs (recent hospitalization) and resources (being married,
having a child in the local area) are related to moving plans of individuals
not living in or on the waiting list for senior housing.
- Having a child in the local area is a resource for residents of
single-family homes.
Implications
These findings suggest ways in which individuals in different residential
contexts evaluate their person-environment fit.
